Bowmans

Made my deposit at Bowmans for 15% to $500 at 4X.  $3335 deposited.  Rollover of $15,400.  I went through the NCAA football lines on Saturday.  It was not as juicy as I'd hoped, but I found a few games to get some money in on.  I went with a bet $800 at a pop strategy.  I figured I'd get it all in on 5 bets and try not to look too suspicious at Bowmans, as I'd like to get the reload bonus also.  I also found an even bet at BetUSA vs Pinney, and I took it so that I could bust money over to Pinney and avoid another withdrawal at BetUSA.  I also found a 2 point arb at SIA vs Pinney.

The primary objective was to bust out of Bowmans, though, and I got all my money in on 5 bets.  3 NCAA and 2 NHL on Saturday.  I went 4 for 5, and was feeling pretty good going into Sunday.  I also discovered late Saturday that the BetUSA wager I'd made had been uncovered, but it won, so I was up a random $600.  My Bowmans balance going into Sunday was just $1750.

Bowmans NFL lines were just as square as could be.  I got nothing on the 1:00 games.  The Pittsburgh/Oakland line moved to within 20 points just before kickoff, and I moved on it, taking a -25 line (+385/-410) just to bust some money over.  I was feeling like I could put that extra BetUSA winfall to good use and expedite the Bowmans bust out on such a sure thing.  Well, Roethlissburger sucked, and I busted $3100 into Bowmans on that one.  I scrambled and got 2 bets on the Dallas/Carolina game, winning the Q1 bet, but losing the whole game on another moneyline and the spread.  My Bowmans balance on Monday morning is an irritating $7300.  I am about half way through the wagering requirement.

The plan now is to shuffle some more cash into Pinney and increase the bet size at Bowmans.

I am wondering if betting on NFL dogs is a good strategy all on its own.  If I had not been covering my bets at Pinney the past few weeks, I would have made a ton of money on the dogs I have been picking at Bowmans, SIA, and BetUSA.  I have been 5 for 14 in getting my money to go the direction I want the past two Sundays.  Meaning my dogs went 9 for 14.  And since the payout on them is so much higher (moneyline betting) the bankroll impact would be extreme.  On the other hand, Pinney must love me as I have moved just under $20K out of there in the past two weeks.  Sheesh!

Gathering My Strength

Sorry I haven't written much lately.  Seems like its trite to keep posting here that I deposited, bet, and then repeated.  There hasn't been much new and unusual activity until this past weekend.

This past weekend was an anomaly.  I went 3 for 8 on how I intended the money to flow.  I lost 5 moneyline favorites.  I moved $12K out of Pinnacle in 2 days.  I made some money on arbs and bonus, but it got my bankroll scattered all over the damn place, and I have been cashing out and re distributing ever since.  I got a bet down on last night's World Series game, but missed out on Monday night football altogether.  The goal is to have everything in place for this weekend's football line ups.  There is a lot of cash to be moved on the weekends this time of year.

I have had Bowmans on my scope forever.  I think it is time to pay them a visit.  Wink

Cards and Sabres

The cards got me last night.  I relied too heavily on Glavine's strong performace thus far and took a -5 to bust a big chunk out of BetUSA.  Unfortunately the chunk in BetUSA is now bigger than ever.  At least the Sabres came through for me last night.  I didn't have near as much on them, though, but they did mitigate the reversal to a certain degree.

I was also happy to see that BetUSA was still taking my bets.  I like using that book, but that may be because I have busted there so much over the past 4-5 weeks.

I must confess my mortal sin, though.  I failed to get any bets down on last Sunday's NFL line-up.  I got back from Germany about 0100 on Sunday morning, and slept until about 0900.  Spent the morning with the family, which is all good, but then I had time to get on the computer and go over the lines before the 1300 games, but I didn't.  I got boresighted on the BullsBetting upgrade, and missed my chance.  Then I was taking a jet lag nap and missed the 1615 games, too.  D'Oh!  I spent Monday trying to figure out what went wrong with the site upgrade, and didn't check the Monday night line either.  What a total loser I am.

Note to self, and others.  Don't check your Neteller account when you are traveling.  I tried to log in and check it when I was in Germany and it triggers an anti-hacking auto-lock on your account.  A phone call to Neteller security straightened it out fairly quickly, but it was a needless hassle.  I was just curious (looking for my Sportbet/Island payment) and didn't really need to log in.  If you are going to travel and need to log in, you can call them in advance and activate your account for whatever country you will be in.

Screwing The Pooch

Another human error, but this one didn't work out too well for me.  I bet on The Twins for Wednesdays games, and somehow I managed to place my scalp bet on the Cardinals for Thursday's game.  (The Twins are playing the A's this week.)  Wrong team, wrong league, wrong day!

I didn't see it until after the Twins game on Wednesday.  Then I realized I had an uncovered bet on The Cardinals, so I had to place one, and the best  could do is -12.  Ugh!

The only thing I can figure is that I typo'd the wrong rotation line when I was placing my bet at Pinney, and didn't review the bet before entering my password to confirm.  Speed kills in this game.  Grrr!

Oh well, I had a great weekend last week, so I am still net positive for the month even thought I just ate $500 when The Twins lost.  I also caught a break when the otherwise poor UCF kicker makes a field goal to end the game against Marshall.  That busted me out clean in one bet on a Bodog reload.

I have to leave for Germany on Sunday, so I won't get to enjoy the whole NFL day.  Hoping to get some bets in that morning before I leave.

Wining, Dining and Winning

Rat Farts!  I went backwards a pound on my fitness quest!  I suppose that's what happens when you go to a wine tasting with your wife, then out to a fancy dinner, then over to Bubba's for beers and deck sitting.  I gotta get more cardio workouts in.

That wine tasting was fun, though.  Went down to Moonrise Bay Vinyards on Knott's Islan, North Carolina.  Not exaclty "wine country" but they do it up right.  Seems some retired plastic surgeon was a wine fanatic and so when he retired he opened his own vinyard and winery.  They are very hospitable and they make it a great experience.  We even liked a few of the wines enough to bring a few bottles home.  There's also a Martins Vinyard nearby.  Not as nice, but worth the trip as the two wineries are so close.

Oops!  This is a sports betting journal, right?  Tongue out

Saturday was very frustrating.  I could not find much of squat to get my money in on.  I went through 4 books several times each, and came away with one bet - which of course broke the wrong way.  Sheesh!

Sunday was much better.  I got about half my sports betting roll in on the early NFL games, including about $4,000 on Indianapolis vs NY Jets.  I also had an uncovered $450 on the over 47.5 for that game - more on that later.  I was pretty much shitting tiffany cufflinks in the third quarter as it looked like I was going to lose my uncovered bet and also shift a boat load of money the wrong direction.  Fortunately it all turned around in the fourth quarter and all was right with the world.  Minnesota let me down, but that was not much damage.

The only late afternoon game I got money in on was St Louis vs Detroit.  St Louis had a late drive to cover the spread of 5.5.  There was a little bit of excitement for me on that game.  They scored a touchdown with less than 2 minutes left to go up by 5, and the PAT would make it 6.  They opted to go for 2, which would have shifted my cash the wrong way had they muffed it.  But they made it and went up by 7, which was the final score of the game.

Here's how I ended up with an uncovered bet.  Human error, of course.  I had a 3 point arb on that O/U between SIA and Pinnacle.  Every book had the O/U at 46.5, but SIA had it at 47.5 (-110).  Selling a point on the over at Pinney got me to +113 at 47.5.  I put $500 on it at SIA and then put $450 on it at Pinney, but by then the line moved to +114.  Even better!  So I scurried and put my bet in at +114.  I looked at other lines at Pinney for a few minutes, then brought my overlapped SIA window back to the front.  That's when I saw the message stating that my $500 bet at SIA was not accepted because the the max bet on totals is $440.  Went to put my $440 bet in, and the line had moved to 46.5 (-110).  Gahhhhhh!!!  I tried to hunt up a covering line at 47.5 someplace, but could not find an easy solution buying a point, so I just let it ride.  Hooray for me, I got lucky.

No more MLB. Cry.  Hopefully there will be some good action on the play off games.
