Wining, Dining and Winning

Rat Farts!  I went backwards a pound on my fitness quest!  I suppose that's what happens when you go to a wine tasting with your wife, then out to a fancy dinner, then over to Bubba's for beers and deck sitting.  I gotta get more cardio workouts in.

That wine tasting was fun, though.  Went down to Moonrise Bay Vinyards on Knott's Islan, North Carolina.  Not exaclty "wine country" but they do it up right.  Seems some retired plastic surgeon was a wine fanatic and so when he retired he opened his own vinyard and winery.  They are very hospitable and they make it a great experience.  We even liked a few of the wines enough to bring a few bottles home.  There's also a Martins Vinyard nearby.  Not as nice, but worth the trip as the two wineries are so close.

Oops!  This is a sports betting journal, right?  Tongue out

Saturday was very frustrating.  I could not find much of squat to get my money in on.  I went through 4 books several times each, and came away with one bet - which of course broke the wrong way.  Sheesh!

Sunday was much better.  I got about half my sports betting roll in on the early NFL games, including about $4,000 on Indianapolis vs NY Jets.  I also had an uncovered $450 on the over 47.5 for that game - more on that later.  I was pretty much shitting tiffany cufflinks in the third quarter as it looked like I was going to lose my uncovered bet and also shift a boat load of money the wrong direction.  Fortunately it all turned around in the fourth quarter and all was right with the world.  Minnesota let me down, but that was not much damage.

The only late afternoon game I got money in on was St Louis vs Detroit.  St Louis had a late drive to cover the spread of 5.5.  There was a little bit of excitement for me on that game.  They scored a touchdown with less than 2 minutes left to go up by 5, and the PAT would make it 6.  They opted to go for 2, which would have shifted my cash the wrong way had they muffed it.  But they made it and went up by 7, which was the final score of the game.

Here's how I ended up with an uncovered bet.  Human error, of course.  I had a 3 point arb on that O/U between SIA and Pinnacle.  Every book had the O/U at 46.5, but SIA had it at 47.5 (-110).  Selling a point on the over at Pinney got me to +113 at 47.5.  I put $500 on it at SIA and then put $450 on it at Pinney, but by then the line moved to +114.  Even better!  So I scurried and put my bet in at +114.  I looked at other lines at Pinney for a few minutes, then brought my overlapped SIA window back to the front.  That's when I saw the message stating that my $500 bet at SIA was not accepted because the the max bet on totals is $440.  Went to put my $440 bet in, and the line had moved to 46.5 (-110).  Gahhhhhh!!!  I tried to hunt up a covering line at 47.5 someplace, but could not find an easy solution buying a point, so I just let it ride.  Hooray for me, I got lucky.

No more MLB. Cry.  Hopefully there will be some good action on the play off games.
