Negative Variance

Playing two $2/4 FRLH tables again yesterday.  Both nice and fishy, but I got ate up for about 19 BB.  When you flop 6 four-flushes and have odds to chase them all, but none hit, you're going to lose some BBs.  I also had an AQ pocket flop top two pair and not be the best hand.  That one cost me a few as well.

I was getting a bit aggravated, but I just kept focused on the situation:  was it still +EV for me to be at the tables I was at?  As long as it was, I decided to keep playing.  Just keeping focused on the important things:  the expectation value of the scenario and the play of the current hand.  Around 10 pm one of the tables broke up and shortly thereafter the other had a turnover of about half the players, so I was no longer sure it was going to remain as fishy as it had been.  That's when I quit.

While losing is no damn fun, I am certain it will be necessary to have some more losing sessions on my quest for Poker Fu.  Its easy to play when you're winning.  Its a lot harder when you're losing.  I guess that means I have a bright side to the $76 I left on the tables last night.  I am one step closer to "fu".
